Opening Weekend Recap

Thursday April, 13th

An exciting weekend it was in Baseballtown as the Phils won their first home game series of the season!  The Reading Fightin Phils took on the Richmond Flying Squirrels for opening weekend in FirstEnergy Stadium.

The Fightin Phils welcomed a total of 8,510 fans to America’s Classic Ballpark. In addition, the first 3,000 received a long-sleeve tee with the official America’s Classic Ballpark logo.  Following this the Fightins defeated the Flying Squirrels in a 6-3  victory.

Positive energy filled the stadium as the crowd celebrates the first home game of the season. The support was not only tremendous for the team, but also for the Fightins #1 Fan, Adam “Disco” Briscoe.

Friday, April 14th

The Fightins unfortunately lost their battle against Richmond in a 5-3 defeat. However, that does not kill the spirit in FirstEnergy Stadium.

The Reading Fightin Phils hosted Bark in the Park opening night for the fans and their furry four-legged friends.  Fans were permitted to bring their dogs into the stadium to attend the second home game of the series.

The stadium was full of ecstatic fans and dogs.  Nothing better than enjoying one of the first home games of the season with man’s best friend!

Saturday, April 15th

And that’s the ball game! The Reading Fightin Phils ended up victorious in their first home game series in a 7-6 win against Richmond.  The Fightins were accompanied by a total of 5,644 fans at FirstEnergy Stadium.

The Fightins also provided a special treat for Kids Club Members on Saturday afternoon. Kids were invited to come early to the game to participate in a special Fightin Phils autograph session.  Kids Club is free for to join!
